I am pleased to announce that registration is open for the 8th Annual Prince William Native Plant Symposium. This year's event will occur on Valentine's Day, so we can all fall even more in love with our wonderful Virginia native plants!

   Wild Geranium_J1F6926Happily gracing the floor of a deciduous forest, Wild Geranium (Geranium maculatum) can also live well in full sun. It will benefit your yard whether you are adding to your perennial bed, reestablishing a forest community or creating a native meadow.

If you are considering adding plants to your property (or land you manage), you'll learn about how you can join thousands of others in our region in transforming your landscape into a life-sustaining environment simply by choosing to use native plants.  

If you already have an eco-friendly yard and want to go deeper into understanding topics like how healthy soils function or what ferns you could add to increase native diversity or how to manage those pesky non-native invaders - this symposium offers talks for beginners and advanced gardeners.  

Our Keynote Speaker will be William Cullina, the Executive Director of the University of Pennsylvania's Morris Arboretum and Gardens.  He will be bringing us an inside look at how seemingly helpless plants defend themselves from predators and attract beneficial pollinators and microorganisms.

We will also have local non-profit gardening A pair of our native Pink Lady's Slipper (Cypripedium acaule), preparing to unfold their striking and complex slipper-like blossoms.
& conservation organizations exhibiting so in-person attendees can bring your questions to these helpful organizations.
