Beebalm, or Monarda didyma, is a lovely perennial native to the Mid-Atlantic and northeastern US states with scattered populations reaching into the Mid-western states and northward into Canada. Very popular in cultivated gardens it is a hummingbird magnet and looks spectacular when planted in drifts.

The tubular flowers and extended pistils and stamens are clues to the pollinators it is designed to attract.

Location: Merrimac Farm Wildlife Management Area, Prince William County, Virginia
