This male White-breasted Nuthatch (Sitta carolinensis) is one of my "backyard" birds. I watch him come to my feeder, pick out his preferred food of hulled sunflower seeds and quickly retreat to the trees in the small woodland behind my house.

He searches for a good nook, just the right size, then presses the seed in for safe keeping, giving it a last little tap to just to make sure it is secure.
