Large-flowered Trillium_JF01315

Large-flowered Trillium_JF01315

Trillium grandiflorum, the largest of our native trilliums. Its petals may show color variations from pure white to deep pink. Often the white flowers will fade to pink as they age.

It resides most happily under the shelter of northern hardwood forests with moist soils. In such an environment it can form colonies with thousands of individual plants.

Location: Thompson Wildlife Management Area, Virginia
