New England Aster_JF97360

A fall-blooming wildflower, New England Aster (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae) has a range that greatly exceeds the boundaries of New England.

This patch was bustling with Red-belted Bumblebees (Bombus rufocinctus) in early October, gathering up as much pollen and nectar as possible before the days become too cold.

Location: Hiawatha National Forest, Michigan
