Hermit Thrush_002_JFF2160

Hermit Thrushes (Catharus guttatus) are winter visitors in my region. Often while birding one hears a bird before seeing it. But the Hermit Thrush rarely sings in winter, making visual contact the norm. Look for it low in deciduous woodlands, in brushy areas foraging for bugs in shrubs and on the ground.
