On a brisk September morning, 45 degrees F and winds sustained at 40 - 50 mph, I stood silently with only a few other photographers, keeping a close eye on our tripods so they wouldn't blow over. We waited under heavy gray clouds, hoping. The sun gave us only a few minutes of beautiful light before all went gray again.

This iconic location is often photographed and is famous for the legend of Wild Goose Island (the small island in the center of the image), a Native American legend similar to the story of Romeo and Juliet, but with a sweeter ending.
