Bay-breasted Warbler_Female_JF05339

Bay-breasted Warbler_Female_JF05339

During spring migration at Magee Marsh the males always seem more numerous than the females. Perhaps that is more perception than reality, but it is definitely more rare for me to have the opportunity to photograph female warblers.

This female Bay-breasted Warbler was kind enough to give me some good opportunities. The faint wash of reddish brown tones along her sides, two wing bars and lack of any yellow are good identifying features.

Location: Magee Marsh State Park, Oh.
